This enclosure has two modes to use as an external USB drive or Ethernet NAS but not both at the same time. Installation is truly easy, quick and tool-less since all the electronics are ready to go plus the magnetic cover simply enabled me drop in a SATA drive. While in network NAS mode, additional drives can be added to the USB-C 3.2 Gen 1 interface to expand storage even further or move files between devices. I was able to read and write files with both a 4TB SATA HDD and a 2TB M.2 NVMe SSD (within its own enclosure); response time and performance is very good.
