Product reviews for this M.2 NVM SSD enclosure are mixed. From my experience, it has worked well. I really like the silent operation with no fan needed. My usage does not thoroughly exercise the high data throughput, but based on my personal experience data transfer does seem very fast. Storage capacity up to 4TB is fantastic, and installation of the M.2 SSD was straightforward.

This is a cool drive. I loaded it with a high-end NVMe drive and was able to saturate the Thunderbolt 5 bus, hitting speeds over 6000 MB/s. For a first-generation Thunderbolt 5 enclosure, that performance blew me away.One of the biggest advantages here is that it supports double-sided NVMe sticks, so you can fit those chunky 8TB drives—and even the upcoming 16TB ones (hopefully)—without issue. That’s a huge plus if you need serious storage capacity in a portable setup.The enclosure itself is silent and fanless, relying on passive cooling with an aluminum body and thermal pads. While this keeps noise out and the design sleek, the downside is the drive does get hot during extended use. I wish this model had an active cooling fan to better manage the heat, especially when pushing sustained high speeds like this.If you’re like me and plan to use this for heavy workloads, you’ll want to keep an eye on temps. It’s a fast and capable enclosure, but the lack of active cooling means thermal throttling is a possibility under prolonged stress. For everyday or moderate use, this won’t be a major issue, but power users might want to put a fan over it. Ghetto, but it worked for me.The only other thing that I could want is a passthrough Thunderbolt 5 port for more connectivity. If it had that, it would be fantastic.All in all, the ORICO enclosure is fast and a good value! It punches above its weight in speed and capacity support. The missing active cooling is my only real gripe, but it doesn’t take away from how impressive it is to see first-gen Thunderbolt 5 tech performing this well. I definitely RECOMMEND this drive enclosure!

Very nice looking, of good design. Lots of aluminum to use as a heat sink. Works well as advertised.Be aware that this is not a complete external hard drive, you must buy external memory and install. Very easy to install however, the total cost for this unit and the memory is very expensive. Should you need the speed that this can provide then this is obviously a good value. If you’re just looking for a place to store photos and other files, then this may be on the costly side.Works as advertised I believe it will function well for a long time and for very fast memory, I would order this again
